Nine Men's Morris ----------------- Materials Gameboard 18 Stones (9 of each color) Gameplay This is a game of position where the object is to form lines of three in a row and in turn capture your opponent's pieces. To begin, players take turns placing pieces (one at a time) on any of the vacant black line intersections. When all the pieces are on the board, players take turns moving their pieces -- one at a time -- along a straight line to an adjacent vacant dot. As a player moves, he or she tries to form a mill -- three pieces in a row. When a mill is formed, the player may capture a piece from his or her opponent that does not belong to a mill. The only time a piece from a mill may be taken is if there are no other pieces open. Winning A player must take all but two of the opponent's pieces or block his or her opponent from moving.
